In Dialogue with AI
Exploring the partnership between artist and artificial intelligence: How AI interprets my art.
In today’s rapidly changing tech landscape, creatives are faced with two challenges:
Keeping up with new and ever-evolving technologies and the worry about being replaced by them.
However, I look to the future with curiosity, actively exploring and incorporating AI possibilities into my work. Both as an artist and a designer.
AI, to me, is not a threat or rival but a collaborator — my digital assistant and creative sidekick. I think of our collaboration as a dialogue—more like a creative jam session, where the end result is unpredictable and often surprising.
Through a combination of my artwork and prompts, AI brings my portraits to life, crafting lifelike representations of ‘real people.’
It interprets not only my paintings but also my words, introducing nuanced details, diverse colors, and various styles.
This is AI’s first suggestion, but it seemed a bit too ‘European’ to me. My original artwork ‘Warrior I’ is inspired by Polynesian culture, so I asked AI to make some changes.
With its flawlessly refined features and a touch of dreamy whimsy, this picture looks really polished and quite stylized with an ‘Disney Prince’ aesthetic.
The AI-generated interpretation is nearly spot-on for the final result, portraying a warrior with impressive accuracy. However, there’s a subtle youthfulness that deviates slightly from my intended depiction in the painting.
This AI-generated result is nearly the final version, capturing the essence with remarkable closeness.
It’s truly fascinating how AI interprets my paintings, adding a whole new layer of reality to the portrait.
Witnessing my imagined person come to life is an experience that never fails to captivate me.
Watching AI breathe life into my paintings makes me think about not just my art but also the broader shifts in the creative landscape. Leaving me intrigued about the evolving dynamics of job opportunities, ownership, creativity, and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead, recognizing that while some jobs may disappear, new ones will emerge.
