Hi, I’m Swantje Wenz
- Motion Designer
- Art Director
- Creative at Heart
I found my way into motion design at a time when the field itself was just beginning to take shape. What started as curiosity quickly became a lifelong fascination with how design, movement, and story can merge into emotion.
While studying design at the Cologne International School of Design (KISD) — an interdisciplinary design institute within the University of Applied Sciences, known for its research-driven and experimental approach — I discovered my passion for storytelling through movement.
What followed were formative years in Australia, Germany, and the UK — designing for broadcast, film, and music. In Sydney, I began my career in TV branding and on-air design, before moving to London, where I deepened my love for rhythm and visual storytelling, working on motion campaigns for television and music artists.
Driven by my fascination for story and visual storytelling, I later studied Animation at the Royal College of Art in London, focusing on directing and the craft of shaping emotion through movement. Some of my short films have been screened at festivals in Athens, Berlin, London, New York, and California.
I went on to lead motion and design teams as a Creative Director before continuing my journey as a freelance designer and creative collaborator.
What connects all my work is a deep belief in the power of moving images — to inspire, to connect, and to evoke emotions that words alone cannot.
I also direct creative concepts through my studio, Gretel — a space for collaboration at the intersection of design, branding, and storytelling – agile, collaborative, and always focused on clarity and depth.
